How to Care For Your Clothing: 5 Easy Steps

You don’t want your clothes to come out stretched, discolored or shrinked after you put them in the dryer or washer. We know how you feel!

1. Wash your clothes less!

You should wash your jeans after 4-6 wears, especially in the winter months. After 4-6 wearing’s, you only really need to wash jeans! It’s the same for long sleeves, sweaters and other items! It’s easy to wash shorts or a tank-top in the summer when it’s hot, but we recommend you wear them a few more times.

2. Use delicate wash or handwash for everything.

If the tag states “hand wash only”, it means you can use the delicate or hand wash cycle in your washing machine.

3. Everything should be washed on cold.

Never wash your items in warm or hot water. Cold water will do the trick and prevent shrinkage. You can also save money by washing your clothes in cold water.

4. Hang dry delicate items.

We recommend drying your basics pieces, such as your sweatshirts, crewnecks and jeans, by hanging them or laying them flat.

5. Keep your clothes in a neat and orderly manner.

It is best to hang your clothes in the closet to prevent wrinkles. This also helps you keep them organized! The use of velvet hangers will also prevent fabric from being stretched or pulled.

If you have denim, or any other item that doesn’t hang well, keeping a pant rack or small dresser near your items will help keep them clean and organized! We recommend folding sweaters and storing them in a dresser to prevent them from stretching out. This is especially important during the off-season!
